Pinpoint Communications (Netstar) Telematics Integration
Overview
Gearbox seamlessly integrates with Pinpoint Communications (Netstar) via API every night to retrieve odometer and hourmeter readings. These readings play a crucial role in Gearbox for calculating Services Due and tracking running costs per hour/kilometre. Automatic readings sourced from telematics are preferred over manual entries due to their reduced susceptibility to user error. Furthermore, the API feed from Pinpoint Communications (Netstar) ensures consistent and timely capture of readings.
Prior to completing the steps below, it is necessary to have an account with API Access for Pinpoint/Netstar. Additionally, you must hold Gearbox administrator privileges.
Please Note: Gearbox uses vehicle 'PinPoint Object Number' to match Assets in Pinpoint/Netstar using Pinpoint/Netstars 'Unique Code' field, Please ensure these are matching within Gearbox and Pinpoint/Netstar for the integration to work.
Pinpoint/Netstar Integration
1. Click on your User Icon (1) then click on Settings (2)

2. On the left-hand side of the screen, scroll down and click on Integrations (3)

3. Scroll down on the Integrations page until you find the Pinpoint/Netstar Communications. Enter your API Username or URL (4), enter your API Password (5), click on Integrate PinPoint box (6) and then click Save (7)

4. Open a new tab in your browser and navigate to Pinpoint/Netstar AVM (this can be found on the Pinpoint/Netstar homepage)

5. Login to Web AVM with your credentials. On the top-right-hand side of the screen, click Manage (9)

6. If you are not taken to the Vehicle Details screen immediately, from the drop-down, select Vehicles (10), then select Details (11)

7. Select a vehicle from the list on the left-hand side (12), click the Details tab (13), locate the Unique Code field (14) enter a unique code for this vehicle, and then click Save (15).
Note: this will be the Pinpoint/Netstar ID of the vehicle in Gearbox. Please keep a note of this Unique Code.

8. Navigate back to Gearbox, Click on Vehicles (16)
9. Once the vehicle has download, click the Settings tab (17) and enter the PinPoint Object Number (18) - this is the unique ID entered in Pinpoint/Netstar AVM. Click Save and Close (19)
Overnight, if there is an odometer or engine hour update (i.e. the vehicle is driven throughout that day, and the ignition is turned off prior to the Gearbox integration executing), the latest odometer and hour readings will be added to Gearbox.
